How I check ranks after I ship

I check ranks after publish the next morning, not the minute the URL is live.

Ship day is indexing. Morning is Overview, then Keywords. I want a stored series, not a screenshot that dies when I close the tab.

I’m Aris Setiawan. I ship Next.js and I built RankMySEO SaaS so a rank check has somewhere to live. The product intro is Introducing RankMySEO SaaS. Hosted vs self-hosted is RankMySEO SaaS vs open source. Open beta is the week of 31 Aug 2026. Not billed.

Ship day is indexing. Next morning is Overview then Keywords.
Ship day, then morning

The day the URL goes live

I do not treat first paint as a rank day.

I ship the URL. I request indexing. I attach the URL and the focus phrase to the RankMySEO project if they are not already there. I can queue a background check so there is a first stored snapshot. I do not sit on the board and wait for Google to already rank it.

A one-shot lookup on ship day is not a baseline I can defend tomorrow. If the page is new, empty SERP history is normal. I leave.

Next morning: Overview, then Keywords

Morning is when I check ranks after publish for real.

Overview first. That is the project home. I want movement that already landed in history, not a live peek that disappears when I close the tab. RankMySEO SaaS runs rank checks in the background. The board stays usable. Results stick with the project.

Then Keywords. That is the focus phrase work. Daily SERP for the keywords on that project. I look at the phrase I shipped for, not a dashboard of vanity totals.

I do not invent a position. I read what we stored. If there is still nothing, I wait another day. That is still the loop.

Overview first. Keywords second. A one-shot lookup is not a loop.
Overview first, Keywords second

Why a one-shot lookup is not enough

A one-shot lookup answers what it looks like right now. It does not answer what changed.

SEO arguments die on that gap. Someone pastes a screenshot. Someone else pastes a different screenshot. Nobody owns yesterday.

RankMySEO SaaS exists so Overview and Keywords read stored history. Open beta this week. No Stripe. I am not selling a rank number. I am keeping a time series.

If you want to run the stack yourself, the OSS path is github.com/madebyaris/rankmyseo. The comparison lives in the SaaS vs open source post. Same family name, different job.

Short first-week loop

Day 0: live URL, indexing request, optional first queued check. I do not score it.

Day 1: Overview, then Keywords. Read stored ranks. Note the focus phrase only.

Days 2 to 7: let daily SERP write history. Open the board when I ship a change, not every hour. Background checks do the waiting. I do not refresh a one-shot tool hoping it will tell a better story.

End of week: I have a short series or I still have gaps. Gaps are data. A screenshot with no date is not.

That is how I check ranks after I ship. History first. Then I decide what to change.
